July Steps to Success Training — Kansas City

Missouri Parents Act invites families to join us for a 2-day Steps to Success Training focused on helping families understand resources, communication strategies, and rights within Missouri’s First Steps program.

Wednesday July 22, 2026
10am-12pm: Family Record Keeping
This training helps families understand the importance of keeping and organizing their child’s records. It covers the types of records and documentation to maintain and explains why they are essential.

12pm-2pm: Effectively Communicating Your Children’s Needs
This training is designed to help families of young children who are new to working with caregivers and providers, offering guidance on how to communicate effectively about their child.


Thursday July 23, 2026
10am-12pm: Parental Rights
This training explains the Parental Rights document provided to all families in the Missouri First Steps Program and helps families understand their and their child’s rights under Part C of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

12pm-2pm: Disagreement Resolution Options under IDEA’s Part C Early Intervention Program
This training provides families of infants and toddlers in Missouri’s First Steps early intervention program with effective communication strategies and processes, along with an understanding of available dispute resolution options under Part C of IDEA, including informal complaints, mediation, child complaints, and due process, so they may address concerns collaboratively and productively.
